- Do fire extinguishers expire?Fire extinguishers do not carry an expiration date the way food does. OSHA sets a maintenance and hydrostatic-test schedule instead, and lists the conditions that retire a unit early.
- How many fire extinguishers do I need?OSHA requires access to an extinguisher within seventy-five feet for ordinary combustibles and fifty feet for flammable liquids. NFPA caps how much floor one unit may cover. Whichever gives the bigger number is the one that governs.
- How do you use a fire extinguisher?The U.S. Fire Administration teaches PASS — pull, aim, squeeze, sweep. It also publishes the questions to answer before you pick the extinguisher up at all, which is the part most guides skip.
- What are the types of fire extinguishers?The U.S. Fire Administration names five primary types of fire extinguisher, one per class of fire. What Class A, B, C, D and K cover, why a kitchen needs its own unit, and what the letters and numbers on the label mean.
- What does a fire protection company do?A fire protection company services the equipment a building is required to keep working — extinguishers, alarms, sprinklers and the backflow device on the riser. What OSHA puts on the employer, and what to look for in a service agreement.

How will you measure which U.S. fire protection companies AI recommends?
We ask leading AI assistants the questions real building owners ask — like "Who is the best fire protection company near me?" — several different ways per metro, and record every company recommended. A company makes the list only if it is named in more than one of those answers, and we publish how many answers named it rather than a place in a ranking. The first edition is being measured now.
Can a fire protection company pay to be on this list?
No. This list is measured, never sold. A company appears on it only if AI actually recommended it when we asked. Money cannot buy a place on this list. Sponsored blocks are labeled advertising and sit outside the ranked list.
When will the first results publish?
As soon as the first benchmark run completes. After that we re-run the same benchmark quarterly with the same methodology, and the run date is printed on every page.
What if something on this site about my company is wrong?
Tell us at /corrections and we will check it against the source. A wrong name, phone number, address, licence or service is a defect and we fix it. A ranking is different: it is a measurement, so it is never for sale and by the same rule never removable or editable on request.
